Ah, it really is. I've been here for over seven months myself, but like you said, it's terribly hard to keep track. Time flies when you're in a horrible place filled with monsters and terrors of all kinds, hm?

And I'd rather take my job of writing up articles any day instead of being in this place. Though, I guess this place has given me enough material for articles to last for over a year.

[He frowns slightly at the "magic" comment.]
It's not magic. It's....complicated. And it's not exactly my main profession, either.

This place is certainly hard to forget so that shouldn't be difficult. Though I wonder how many back home would label us mad for our stories.

[He says, with a self-assured smile.]
Though it does seem like a vivid dream or hallucination, doesn't it?

[Sorry, Nadia, you have just engaged in conversation with the world's number one DISBELIEVER IN MAGIC. You're welcome.]
I don't know about you, but I have never seen good, concrete proof that magic is real.

Really? All I remember was you trying to smash the skull of that boy.

[What if she smacks him would that help (probably not..........)]

[WELL FINALLY SOMEONE BEGINS TO CALL HIM OUT ON HIS HYPOCRISY. He glances away, frowning and mumbling:]
It's just not.

Then what was it?

[He finally says, with a frustrated huff. He's been perfectly happy to just sort of ignore that he had these powers (with the exception of when he or others were in danger). Now, just to talk about them was kind of like talking about the elephant in the room.]
I got them recently, it's not...its not something I usually could do.
no subject
Well... If you want to learn how to use them, I know of some magic users here that would be happy to help, myself included.

[He folds his arms, his cheeks a little red - he's getting sort of upset over this and he doesn't really like it. The feeling just sort of squirms in his chest, and he glances away, looking uncomfortable as he sort of rambles, more to himself than to her.]
I just don't know why they work. They shouldn't work. That night I got them was a dream, I'm sure of it, but they're all working here, so...I don't know what to think. I don't know how to explain it. It defies logic...

You were probably blessed. It usually happens at birth where I'm from. [She's never, ever heard of it happening later in life or of humans getting magic like that, but different worlds and all.] You should count yourself lucky to have such an amazing gift.

[He shakes his head and smiles, like the thought itself is a joke.]
I was just in the right place at the right time, it seems. It was like...a job, almost. I showed up, and basically these...abilities were handed off to me. Like, "here you go, use them to complete this role that you only learned about a few seconds ago." I mean, not that I'm complaining, it was just all rather sudden, I suppose. I only wanted to reach a certain place to investigate, I didn't realize there had to be a whole ritual behind it.

[He's really determined to just squirm out from this whole "THIS IS TOTALLY MAGIC" explanation, he really is. He lets out a sigh.]
...Honestly, I do need practice with them. I've been using them against the beasts in the tunnels, but I think practicing them with others would even be more beneficial.
